Porto Bianco : White Port

Vintner's Comment:

Our white port is made with Vidal Blanc, so everything that characterizes a Vidal Blanc is nicely transferred over to our Porto Bianco as well.

Port is made be adding brandy to the fermenting wine must, in order to halt fermentation at around 18% alcohol and 8% residual sugar.

You can quickly stop the fermentation by adding brandy.

The 18% alcohol content in conjunction with the 8% sugar make port's longevity and shelf life almost indefinite.

Some ports are aged for over 50 years!

We try to keep our Porto Bianco relatively young as compared to other ports, because we don't want it to lose too much of its fruity aroma of its original Vidal. We prefer to keep our ports as closely reminiscent of their wine origins as possible.

We strive for something that always tastes like a classic port but still carries its wine's fruitiness. We age our Porto Bianco partly in oak, and then continue it continues its aging once in the bottle.
