Selecting your Wedding Wine:
You gotta LOVE this stuff!

You gotta really love your wedding wine! No, seriously! So does your family!
Remember that most NJ wineries are bonded facilities and so can only serve their farm’s agricultural product - their wines.  Most vineyards don’t sport a separate expensive alcohol license to accommodate for other types of alcohol. So if your family are all staunch whiskey drinkers from Tennessee, or devote beer drinkers from Dublin, and you can’t stomach telling them of an all-wine policy during your big day, perhaps a vineyard wedding wouldn’t be the perfect fit...

My opinion though? It's YOUR day - if Pops, Uncle Joe, or Crazy Aunt Liz has to drink a Merlot instead of a Johnny Walker for one night in his or her life, they should gladly and graciously make such a small sacrafice so you can enjoy your wedding as you like, where you like it! Amen! :-)

Be eclectic in your wedding wine selections.
Choose a good variety of wines from the winery’s list. Is the wine list diverse? Some NJ wineries specialize in fruit wines for example, which might be hard for a formal dinner wine and food pairing.

At HVV, we offer over 18 types of wines and vintner blends. Can the winery you're considering for your wedding accommodate all different tastes and preferences? Not just sweet, not just dry?

Does the winery produce a sparkling wine for toasting your big day?
Sparkling wines, such as Champagne or Spumante, are often associated with life celebrations - who doesn’t love popping a cork in celebration and matrimony?

What wines are doing well this season?
When considering the wine to buy for the event, ask about what wines are performing well that year at competitions and through popular demand. Wine demand varies from season to season, vintage to vintage, as does a vineyard’s production.

Don’t assume the winery will have all it’s wine labels in stock come a late October wedding... Instead, prepay or reserve cases of your favorites if it's something you really want in your lineup!!
